The art of corn dolly-making is an ancient and endangered heritage craft deeply rooted in rural life. Harvest tokens and trophies were traditionally made from the last sheaf of wheat to hold and protect the 'spirit of the harvest' through the winter, until they were ploughed into the first furrow of the new season.
Straw work has been in my family since the 1950s. My granny (Jean Duffin) made corn dollies and taught classes, followerd by my mum (Jenny) - and now me.
I sell online here, at various markets and events, and love to take on interesting commissions.
