Brigid’s Cross

£9.00

The Brigid’s Cross is traditionally made on February 1st to celebrate the Irish Catholic Saint Brigid of Kildare. It is also closely associated with the Celtic Goddess Brigid where it was made for the festival of Imbolc, at the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox

In pre-Christian Ireland, the woven symbol was made from rushes or straw and hung in the home, believed to bring blessings and protection. It marked the beginning of new life, returning warmth and the awakening of nature
